IT'S ALWAYS THE RIGHT TIME FOR NEW DISCOVERIES - FAMILY OUTINGS ARE FUN IN ANY SEASON
Put on your hiking trousers and get your little one... It can sometimes be tiring going out with children when the wind is blowing and it’s pouring rain. But in every season, there’s something to discover. And if, together, we admire all the things hiding beneath the smallest stones, these childhood memories will remain.
It's the little things...
You don’t need to leave for distant destinations to discover the outdoors with your children. Just the city park: there's plenty to explore. The best thing is not to have precise times or a set destination and to proceed at the pace of the children. There aren’t any instructions, but only the many small stories to experience in person. With children, we can follow ants to the anthill, find birds' nests, look for the footprints of animals and count the dots of ladybirds. For observing tiny creatures, we recommend keeping a magnifying glass hanging around your neck. The best thing: even we adults get to relax and learn something.
Discovering nature with our little adventurers. Things to do with children
Whether there is sun, rain, or wind, it’s good to get a breath of fresh air every day and children get tired in the outdoors ;-) The little ones gladly gather sticks, sometimes so large that they almost can’t carry them. Can we drag them home or can we build a hideout? And then they find rocks; large and small, everywhere, to collect, of course. At home, they’re painted and transformed into precious stones.
At the next river or lake we can throw stones and watch them skip. It doesn't matter if they don't succeed immediately. Just throwing them is fun.
If the children don’t want to continue on the path, why not climb a tree? Don't worry too much! Of course, children shouldn’t hang on a branch that’s too thin or climb too high, but they must have experiences in a secure environment. If you bring along binoculars from home, you can have a look at the rest of the journey or animals in the distance.
Prepare yourself well for the excursion with your baby or small child
In order for the trip to be a success, you should prepare well. Real explorers need the right clothes, not things that can’t get dirty or wet. A good idea would also be to bring spare trousers for emergencies. And comfortable, weatherproof shoes, so that the children don't want to be carried after just the first few metres on the trail, of course... After all, kids also want to jump in a puddle without ending the outing. To protect children’s faces from low temperatures, we recommend a cream for wind and bad weather.
When the little one is hungry: practical snacks for the outing
Exploring nature is a great experience for the development of your baby and child: playing with elements like water and sand, but also exploring surfaces by touch or listening to strange noises, such as the sound of a woodpecker or the rustling of leaves, are important and fascinating discoveries for children.
It’s not surprising that so much stimulation makes them hungry. A backpack that is well-stocked with snacks may be the best thing about the outing. As soon as you reach a nice place, everyone can start snacking and drinking. The little nature lovers adore fruit bars as a snack, because they're really too busy for a proper break.
Depending on the season, you can carry different types of fruits. But also sandwiches with sweet gouda cheese, cucumbers, herbs, frankfurters or lettuce. All fresh from Lidl, of course! Because you don’t have the possibility of heating the food for your baby outdoors, you should carry the food in a thermal container. Alternatively, you can opt for packaged fruit from Lidl. For the bottle, a bottle warmer is ideal. Especially practical are those that you can plug into the car. Once refuelled, you can continue following the tracks of rabbits, foxes, elves, fairies and good forest sprites.
