THE SECOND BIRTHDAY - WITH THESE IDEAS FOR THE PARTY, IT WILL BE A PIECE OF CAKE
Playing, laughing and romping around are simple ingredients that make the second birthday a very successful event for young and old. All it takes are fun games, decorations, tempting snacks and practical cutlery. Let yourself be inspired by our suggestions and ideas for a children's party.
Clearly a party is indispensable for celebrating a child's birthday the way we should. The best thing is to separate the party with family and relatives from the one with other children. Small children are often stressed if confronted with too many people. Decide how many people and how much things you would like to have for the kids’ birthday party; inviting two to four young guests is enough. Another good idea is to give a fixed time frame; two or three hours is enough to entertain everyone. It’s helpful if the other parents remain at the party, you can count on them to help when needed!
What a rainbow! Colourful decorations
Colourful balloons and a well-set table. Children who are two years old don't expect more from a birthday party and this simplifies things for you. Would you like a classic decoration for a children's party? Balloons, ribbons, wreaths and lanterns are beautiful and create the right spirit for the party.
Children at this age love dressing up. A themed party may be just the thing, in this way you can match the invitations, cutlery and decorations with the theme you’ve chosen. Maybe you already have costumes to go with the theme and the fun of dressing up can begin as soon as the guests arrive. Now all you need are appetizing snacks and fun games to kick off the party.
So good! Yummy finger food
Children under two years are very active and move around a lot. The best thing is to eat without having to sit at the table. You could organize a picnic on the ground and young guests can sit on a blanket on the floor, or you can serve finger food to nibble on during the party. If you place everything on one table, then it is advisable to also have tables for the children. Plates, bowls and cups with lids for kids, all in plastic, are unbreakable and perfect for small hands - and you’ll avoid tears.
Remember that a party should be very colourful! Watermelons, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, frankfurters, cheese cubes, meatballs, baguettes, mini-pizzas, pudding or ice cream are always good ideas and this is all immediately available from Lidl.
For the birthday cake remember that simple is best. First of all, make sure that you’ve got enough ingredients to set it up and remember that a cake with thick frosting may be a bit heavy. A cake decorated with gummy bears or chocolate will surely be to everyone's liking! Would you like to cast a magical spell? Why don't you try pasta muffins? Pasta and dessert: the ideal combination for children. To prepare it you need:
- 300 g pasta (your choice) Italiamo
- 200 g cooked ham
- 250 g cherry tomatoes
- 200 ml cream Latteria
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package of grated cheese Milbona
- Olive oil Primadonna
- Muffin cups
Cook the pasta al dente. Cut the ham into small cubes and cut the tomatoes into quarters. Combine the pasta, prosciutto and tomatoes in a bowl, add a little olive oil and salt. Mix together. Put the mixture in the previously greased muffin cups. Finally, add a splash of cream and distribute the cheese to each muffin cup. Put in a preheated oven to 180° C and bake for 20 minutes. It’s ready!
Now it’s playtime! Ideas to get them going!
You don't need complicated games. Too many rules and too much organization tires children at this age. Just short and simple instructions; there are a couple of very nice games that are certainly fun, even for two year olds:
1 - Obstacle course
A mattress, a couple of pillows, a rocking toy or a couple of balls: an obstacle course in the hallway or in a room big enough is ready in an instant. The children can climb, jump, crawl ... Everything they want to. Ideally, you should keep an eye on them to avoid getting hurt.
2 - Race tricycles
A fun game outdoors, if weather permits and if it’s possible, is a tricycle race. You need a route for the race, complete with departure and arrival. If you only have a tricycle available, you'll have to time each competitor. If you have more than one, you will be able to arrange a duel between contenders. The important thing is to have fun. So everyone will receive a small prize, such as a coin or a piece of candy.
3 - The three hats game
Put small gifts in several bags, such as cookies, gummy bears or the candy you bought at Lidl. Hide hats in the house or in the garden, depending on where you celebrate your birthday. You can make or buy party hats. Under the hats hide pouches with surprises. And now the birthday child and the guests start the hunt.
It may also happen that one or two children don’t want to participate. Maybe they prefer to explore the children's bedroom or they might find a birthday child’s toy more interesting. What's wrong with that? Give the children a peaceful corner if they need it. Try to simply be open and relaxed. Everything doesn't have to be perfect. The important thing is that everyone feels at ease. Have fun at the party! Enjoy it!
