Crawl-free through the summer – with clever insect protection
Hey summer, there you are at last. We’ve missed you – the mild evenings on the terrace, fresh-pressed lemonade, popsicles. There’s only one thing we could do without: the creepy-crawlies in our homes. Mosquitoes, flies, wasps, and ants everywhere. Outside? Yes, please! Inside? No, thanks! But how do you tell these uninvited guests gently? Quite simply: with solid insect protection.
What are the benefits of insect protection?
Fly screens and the like are a must in the warmer months. In no time at all, they make your life easier.

1. Better sleep
Annoying buzzing and nighttime mosquito bites robbing you of sleep? Reliable insect protection ensures quiet, restful summer nights – the troublemakers simply stay outside.
2. Good for your health
No more itchy bites and nasty swelling! A screen keeps the little pests at bay and, as a side benefit, minimizes the risk of allergic reactions.

3. Mechanics instead of chemicals
Insect sprays pollute the indoor air and leave chemical traces on furniture and textiles. Fly screens on windows and doors are the clever, completely chemical-free alternative for a healthy indoor climate
4. Stay clean
Insects leave unsightly marks on walls, lamps, and window panes. With insect protection, your home stays clean – and your food, as well as your refreshing summer lemonade, are safe from hungry wasps.

5. Ideal for rental apartments
Good news: Fly screens and the like are very welcome in rental apartments too – especially insect protection without drilling. With clever adhesive, Velcro, magnetic, or clamping systems, these tools move into your home without a drill. This is not only fast, simple, and convenient, but also leaves no residue. Simply remove, clean, done.
And don't forget: Your food benefits from decent insect protection too. Finally, no more wasps in your homemade lemonade!
Which insect protection is right for you?
Not all insect protection is created equal. In a wide variety of sizes, shapes, colors, and materials, it blocks the path for pests into your home. Below, we would like to introduce you to the classics for a bug-proof home, which you can also find in our shop:

1. Fly screens with magnetic or Velcro tape
Want it to be simple, fast, and affordable? Then get insect protection with magnetic or Velcro tape for your home. The concept is simple:
- Open the door or window.
- Carefully attach the magnetic or Velcro tape to the frame.
- Cut the fly screen to your desired dimensions.
- Fix the screen onto the magnetic or Velcro strip on the frame – done.

2. Tension frames
For windows and doors with standard dimensions, tension frames are an ideal choice – fixed frames in which the fly screen is already pre-installed. They not only make a high-quality impression but are also easy to install and remove. But which tension frame is the best fit for your home?
- Plastic frames: The lightweight among fly screens – quickly installed and ideal for standard sizes – especially the pop-up screen. Simply clamp it in, and you're done.

- Variable Aluminum Frames: Want it to be flexible – yet uncomplicated? Telescopic aluminum frames offer both. With just a few simple steps, you can adapt them to your windows and doors – entirely without drilling or sawing. Everything you need for assembly is already included in the scope of delivery. No extra materials necessary.
- Custom-fit Aluminum Frames: Fly screens like they were tailor-made? Grab your own tools and match the frame systems individually to your windows and doors. The effort may be higher, but the result is more precise. Perfect for special dimensions and tricky installation situations.
Watch-Out: When it comes to fly screens, measurements are everything. Before buying, be sure to determine the exact window and door size – both length and width. Especially with permanently installed roller shutters, these details are essential. Roller boxes and guide rails must not get in the way of the screen. You don't want your insect protection and privacy screen to clash later on.

3. Insect traps with UV light
It doesn't always have to be classic insect protection for doors and windows. How about an electronic assistant like UV traps for a change? The principle: using UV radiation, they mimic natural sunlight. This attracts insects like magic—hence the famous saying, "like moths to a flame." They quickly fly toward the simulator and are caught in the trap.
Dos and Don’ts for insect protection
A bug-free home that still looks great? Certainly—no problem with these tips and tricks.
Dos
Fine-mesh screens: The finer the mesh, the fewer insects in the house. You can ward off mosquitoes with a mesh size of 1.1 to 1.5 millimeters; for smaller pests like fruit flies, it can be even finer.
Don't forget skylights: Many uninvited insects smuggle themselves in through them—so be sure to install fly screens there.
Keep it clean: Pollen, dirt, and dust quickly get caught in the mesh. This interferes with the view and airflow. But don't worry: with water and a brush, you’ll have the protection clean again in no time.
Two is better than one: Combine fly screens with electric UV traps
Don'ts
Cleaning while too wet: Moisture on the screen not only damages the fine material but also provides an ideal breeding ground for mold.
Less is more? Not when it comes to fly screens. If the balcony door is sealed, they’ll just head into the house through the tilted kitchen window.
Location is everything: UV insect traps must not compete with the room lighting.
