Master of Wine:Bordeaux between tradition and innovationRichard Bampfield, Master of Wine and expert in viticulture, sheds light on current developments in Bordeaux. The famous wine region is facing challenges that require new approaches in viticulture - be it due to changing climatic conditions or increasing demands on production.
2023 in particular was a year that demanded a lot from winegrowers. Extreme weather events led to difficult conditions in the vineyard and presented producers with major challenges. However, the region responded with adaptability and foresight. New, more resilient grape varieties are an example of how Bordeaux is actively shaping the future of viticulture and adapting to changing conditions.Bordeaux has recognised these challenges as an opportunity for forward-looking development. Richard Bampfield confirms the positive transformation of the region: "I used to think Bordeaux was the most difficult place in the world to grow wine. But the region has proved me wrong." Every sip of Bordeaux is therefore a journey through tradition and innovation.
