Terre Siciliane: Lava and a Zest for Life
Sicily is a melting pot, a bridge, a borderland, and one of the oldest wine regions in the world. Full of history, life and passion. Let's take a tour.
The World on One Island
Some might say that Sicily is the cultural heart of the Mediterranean. And it’s no surprise! This Italian island, located between Europe, Africa and Asia, has a long history of diverse cultural influences. Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spaniards and Bourbons have all left their mark on the island to this day. If you order “Couscous in Trapani” in Sicily, you can reply with a “shukran” (Arabic for thank you). The Arab-Spanish influence lives on in the Sicilians today. If you find yourself in the old towns, be sure to keep an eye out for the churches and castles! They are a unique mix of all the cultures that shaped Sicily. Our must-see: the Cappella Palatina in Palermo, followed by a stroll through the old town.
